As the Mount Vernon News reported last year, officials shuttered last year’s “senior fair,” which would have included grandstand events, most food vendors, merchant exhibits and other displays. (Last year’s “junior fair,” including 4-H and agricultural competitions, plus harness racing, operated business as usual.) But as June 2 of 2021 rolled around, Gov. Mike DeWine ended all pandemic health orders, including the mask mandate. Hence, the fair resumed as the event familiar to Knox Countians. According to the fair’s website, livestock competitions, tractor pulls (big and small), demolition derbies, Rough Trucks, food vendors and enough “rides to make you dizzy” have returned. ....
MANSFIELD - Mansfield Music Fest is back after taking a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly two dozen bands and groups, largely from Mansfield and the surrounding area, have signed up to play Aug. 27 and 28 inside the ski lodge at Snow Trails, 3100 Possum Run Road. What began as a DIY show held in the backyard of Hanley Road house in 2008 or 2009 has morphed into a two-day festival. The stage was run off of a generator, said Austin Moore, who took the reins of the festival in 2012. Mansfield Music Fest rotated between bars before moving to Snow Trails in 2018. Planet Rock (now called The Electric Company), Chris s Cafe and Fourth Street Bar the latter two of which have since closed have all played host to the festival at one point. ....
