Details have emerged of the contribution armoured fighting vehicles (AFV) are expected to make in the defence planning of the Swedish Army, as well as some initial requirements that the force has for its CV9040 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) replacement, in a presentation given by Major General Karl Engelbrektson, commander of the Swedish Army, on 27 January, during the virtual International Armoured Vehicles conference.
Sweden is modernising its armed forces with a view to deterring external aggression, with an important element of this plan being the replacement of its legacy AFV fleet, including the Leopard 2 (Swedish designation Strv 122) main battle tank (MBT), as well as the CV9040 (Stridsfordon 9040A) IFV, sometime after 2030. ....

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded Elbit Systems UK (ESUK) a GBP102 million (USD139 million) contract for Dismounted Joint Fires Integrators (D-JFIs) for the British armed forces, the ministry and company announced on 21 January.

The D-JFIs, which will be delivered over a five-year period, will be deployed by British joint terminal attack controllers and fire-support teams, providing them with a dismounted sensor and networked battle management system (BMS) that will be used to acquire targets and then generate and communicate target information to the relevant units for engagement, ESUK said in a press release. ....

State-owned broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) revealed in mid-January that the People’s Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF) is operating a new tracked all-terrain vehicle (ATV) to provide logistics support to troops deployed in hard-to-reach high-altitude areas.

In a news report published on its js7tv.cn website, CCTV said that the four-door vehicle, the designation of which was not disclosed, can be used to supply troops stationed in plateau regions at altitudes of more than 5,000 m above sea level. ....

Denmark is only the second customer for the Eagle 5, which is also used by the German armed forces. (GDELS-Mowag)
Denmark has placed a follow-on order for 56 Eagle 5 protected patrol vehicles in the 4×4 configuration as well as a prototype of an open reconnaissance variant with General Dynamics European Land Systems – Mowag (GDELS-Mowag), according to a 17 December GDELS-Mowag press release.
The order, which is valued at CHF46 million (USD51.9 million), is the second part of the framework agreement signed between the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation and GDELS-Mowag in June 2017. All 57 vehicles procured under the second order will be delivered from the end of 2021 and throughout 2022, the press release states. ....
