It’s going to be a good summer for eating. No, great summer. Well, okay, when is it not a great summer for eating? But this one – 2021 – is going to be different. We all know why, of course. But considering that many of us are just coming out of our shells after getting our vaccines, you have to admire the chefs and restauranteurs who had to make decisions months ago about whether to go for it in 2021. But go for it they did, and we’ve got a full plate of new food businesses to show for their bravery.
Polls are open from noon to 8 p.m. at the Chilmark Community Center.
In the board of health race, incumbent Jan Buhrman, who owns Kitchen Porch catering, is seeking a fifth three-year term. She is being challenged by Curtis Cetrulo, a retired physician.
There are no other contests on the ballot. Select board chairman Bill Rossi is seeking reelection to a third term.
Seats on the town planning board and finance advisory committee will be partly decided by write-in votes because there are more open seats than candidates on the ballot.
Voters will also be asked to decide 10 questions exempting spending from the provisions of Proposition 2 1/2, the state tax cap.
