Ujjivan Financial slips after shareholders reject Samit Ghosh as MD & CEO

Ujjivan Financial Services fell 1.57% to Rs 204.10 after a special resolution to appoint Samit Ghosh as MD and CEO of the company was defeated as it didn t get the requisite share of votes.
As per the regulatory filing, the company had put to vote a special resolution to appoint Samit Ghosh as the managing director and chief executive officer of Ujjivan Financial Services for a period of 3 years w.e.f. 1 May 2021.
The proposal only garnered 70.5271% votes in favour while 29.4729% votes were casted against the proposal. Since this was a special resolution, it needs 75% votes in favour to be passed.
Another special resolution to approve the re-appointment of Abhijit Sen as an independent director of the company for a period of 5 years w.e.f. 13 September 2021, was also defeated. The proposal only garnered 70.5815% votes in favour while 29.4185% votes were casted against the proposal. ....

Indian markets are expected to open slightly lower on Friday, amidst weak global cues emanated from Asian markets. The SGX Nifty, which currently rules at 14,770 at the Singapore Stock Exchange, indicates at least 130 points gap-down opening for Nifty futures, which on Friday closed at 14,901.
According to analysts, the focus will be on progress in Covid pandemic and corporate results.
Though the US market closed on strong note overnight, Asian markets from Japan, to Korea; and Australia to Taiwan are ruling weak in early trade on Friday, as China’s crackdown on technology firms affected the sentiment. The US market overnight ended firm due to strong GDP data. ....

A special resolution to appoint Samit Ghosh as Managing Director and CEO of Ujjivan Financial Services was not approved by the required majority of shareholders.
According to data with BSE, the special resolution to approve the appointment of Ghosh as MD and CEO of the company for a three-year period, effective May 1, 2021 was “not approved by the requisite majority”.
Only 70.527 per cent of the votes were polled in favour of the resolution, while 29.473 per cent of the votes were polled against the proposal.
Ghosh is currently the non-executive Chairman of the company. ....
