Sara Grasso to Direct Homeless Services at New Beginnings

Earlier in her career, Grasso worked in clinical and program management positions with local community partners, such as the Salvation Army Hospitality House, Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA), Phoenix of Santa Barbara, and Family Service Agency.

Treatment centers across the ArkLaTex report rise in opioid abuse


SHREVEPORT, La. - As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, there is another major health issue still plaguing communities across the ArkLaTex: opioid abuse. And lawmakers are taking notice.
 Attorney General Jeff Landry has announced new plans on funding the state s drug court through opioid settlement money. A record amount of Americans and ArkLaTex residents are abusing opioids and prescription pills, Landry said.
In anticipation of major settlements in actions against the companies that have helped to fuel America s opioid epidemic, said Landry.
According to the CDC the number of users has surged during the pandemic. In 2019, the organization reported 10 million Americans over the age of 12 misused opioids, but estimates say that number has jumped to more than 12 million. ....

Lompoc Unified’s anti-gang task force still in the works, local organizations help in the process
LOMPOC, Calif. – Lompoc Unified School District continues to work on the anti-gang task force to reduce teen gang violence in the city.
According to head of the task force Brian Jaramillo, community groups like Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and the YMCA in Lompoc are part of the task force.
YMCA is offering a summer program for kids to stay busy in their facility and out of the streets, that is according to YMCA Youth Development Director Stephanie Saucedo.
The program starts June 2021. ....
