9 & 10 News February 8, 2021 Michigan Department of Natural Resources is celebrating Earth Day and Arbor Day this year with a virtual 5K – featuring a Bob Ross inspired theme. Run for the Trees Happy Little 5K registration is now open for those who are looking to get in some fitness while helping preserve and plant native trees in our beautiful state. The rules are easy: Pick the pace and the place, as long as it’s outdoors. You’ll have from April 22 thru April 30, 2021, to complete the 5K. For only $34 per person, your virtual 5K counts! All proceeds support Happy Little Tree-planting and preservation efforts in state parks. Everyone who participates will be shipped a keepsake Happy Little T-shirt, commemorative bib, and finisher’s medal featuring a real Bob Ross painting. ....
December 29, 2020 By Jessica Mathews/[email protected] Livingston County residents and others across the state are encouraged to register for a spring event that supports state parks - with all proceeds going toward Happy Little Tree-planting and preservation efforts in parks. The âRun For The Trees â a Happy Little Virtual 5Kâ is taking place April 22-30, 2021. The virtual race is said to be bookended by Earth Day and Arbor Day and supports the restoration of native Michigan ecosystems and other natural resources by growing native trees, shrubs, grasses and plant products for use in Michigan state parks, recreation areas and public boating access sites.
