Speaking to TOI, infectious diseases expert Sanjay Pujari said Covid-19 reinfection is confirmed only after 102 days of diagnosis. Hence, it is advisable to delay surgery for the said time.

Pune-based gynaecologist Sanjay Gupte said, Covishield and Covaxin do not contain any live virus. They are non-replicating virus vaccines. There is no biological mechanism that can cause infection to the mother or unborn foetus. So there is no transmission in pregnancy or through breast milk. Besides, it is unethical to deny them their fundamental right to health. Gupte is the chairman (ethical committee) of the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
Countries like the US, UK, and Australia have included pregnant/breastfeeding women in the Covid vaccination process, Gupte said. ....
