ANGOLA â The Downtown Angola Coalition and the Steuben County Farmers Market have entered into a partnership that puts the Market under the nonprofit umbrella of the Coalition. The agreement, signed earlier this month by officers of both organizations, was approved by the Downtown Coalition at its board meeting on Wednesday. The partnership allows the Farmers Market to operate under the Coalitionâs nonprofit corporation status and will provide the group liability insurance. The Coalition acts as the fiscal agent for the Market in certain matters. The Coalition will get to promote the Market as one more of the downtownâs offerings. ....
ANGOLA â A mysterious monolith has appeared in Bird Song Park in Angola. The triangular, metal object is about 10- to 12-feet tall and appears similar to ones discovered in Utah, California and Romania late last year. Instead of a shiny, reflective surface, the prism in Bird Song Park appears to be constructed of unfinished metal and has welded seams. The monolith bears a singular marking: âMMXX,â the Roman numerals for the year 2020, are welded near the top of one of the sides of the structure. Bird Song Park, located on the corner of East Maumee and North Elizabeth streets in downtown Angola, is privately owned by Craig and Colleen Everage and open to the public. The family plans to deed the land so it remains a park in perpetuity. ....

After soliciting the public for ideas for a name, the Craig and Colleen Everage family who owns the park has decided on one name that they think helps reflect the nature of the park and the first public event held in it last year before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down many organized activities in the community.
