The Hip will be without their iconic front-man Gord Downie, who passed away back in 2017. The Hip will also be receiving the 2021 Humanitarian Award from Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush. The Humanitarian Award recognizes outstanding Canadian artists or industry leaders whose humanitarian contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada and beyond. (Photo: David Foot / Quinte News) The manager of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce says 2021 will be a year that will include COVID-19, but hopefully a year of growth as well. Suzanne Andrews talked to Quinte News about the year ahead, and says technology will be a focus in the next 12 months. “It was a catalyst for a lot of small businesses to get more digital. I think that it is something that has been around for the last couple of years. The government has funded this because they knew that we had to encourage small businesses to get more digital to get online, make sure they had websites and the software needed to survive and compete.” ....
Mischief Belleville Ontario- On January 2, 2021 at 9:37 a.m., officers attended a residence on Elgin St. regarding mischief. Officers received information that a young person had broken some items in the residence and then left the scene. After a short period of time, the male youth, from Belleville, attended the Belleville Police Service and turned himself in. He was charged with mischief under $5000 and breach of probation. He was held for bail hearing on January 3, 2021. Arrest on Warrant Belleville Ontario- On January 2, 2021 at 11:31 p.m., officers attended in the area of a Millennium Drive business in regards to a suspicious male pushing a shopping cart. Upon arrival, the male was located. A record check indicated that 28-year-old David Reid of Belleville was wanted on an outstanding charge of fail to appear for fingerprints stemming from previous charges. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing on January 3, 2021. ....
