got her first pair of glasses after she complained that she

Museum Guild schedules dinner for 8, tea for 12 fundraiser
Both events will be prepared and served by guild members.
Dinner for 8 will be held at the former home of Vacaville treasure Don Birrell (1922-2006), who was the director of the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento from 1951-1953, and the design director of the Nut Tree from 1953 until his retirement in 1990.
He also designed the Vacaville city logo, among other iconic images in Solano County. His home is filled with examples of his design work for the Nut Tree.
The evening will start with cocktails, followed by a tour of the home and the meal. ....

Wayne Thiebaud paintings in Toledo

The Toledo Museum of Art has opened a new exhibit, “Wayne Thiebaud 100: Paintings, Prints and Drawings.
The show continues through May 2 and is in honor of the artist’s 100th birthday in 2020.
The exhibition includes works from the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, Ca., as well as works from the Thiebaud family, many of which have never been publicly on view.
Known primarily for his colorful and captivating depictions of cakes and desserts, Thiebaud’s work also includes still lifes, figural studies, landscapes and urban environments.
The exhibition is curated by Scott A. Shields, associate director and chief curator at the Crocker Art Museum, which has collected the artist’s work since early in his career. ....

How a new fund for Black artists in Sacramento is changing the lives of local creatives

Feb. 8 Black artists in the Sacramento region are being celebrated and praised for their work, thanks to the Black Artists Fund and their seasonal awards.
The Black Artists Fund is an advisory board of eight Black women looking to invest in art creatives around the Sacramento region. The purpose is to raise funding for Black artists so they can afford to expand their creative minds and prolong their art careers.
So far, the Black Artists Fund has raised over $42,000 thanks to donations on their GoFundMe page, which will go toward their Summer 2021 grantees. This is the highest amount they ve raised since starting last year. ....
