‘Samithi wanted Karwar train detained in one direction’

The Paschima Karavali Railway Yatri Abhivriddhi Samithi has said that it is upon the samithi s representation that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel wrote to South Western Railway seeking detention of Karwar-Bengaluru Express at Subrahmanya Road to ensure equal justice to patrons of Karwar and Mangaluru regions.
Samithi president G. Hanumantha Kamath said that since the Mangaluru-Bengaluru train alone was being detained at Subrahmanya Road in both the directions to give way for Karwar trains, it demanded detaining the Karwar Express too in one direction.

The public consultation organised by Mangaluru City Corporation to prepare the annual budget for 2021-22 turned out to be a forum to air grievances against the civic body, though some suggestions to be incorporated in the budget also came in.
G. Hanumantha Kamath, president, Nagarika Hitarakshana Samithi, Mangaluru, suggested that the corporation should in the budget reserve funds for paying compensation to those people whose land will be submerged when water at the Thumbe vented dam is stored up to seven metres high.
Now, the civic body is storing water up to six metres high. If water is stored up to seven metres high, the civic body will require about ₹ 145 crore to pay compensation to those whose land will be submerged. ....

Poor attendance by civil society members marked the public consultation organised by Mangaluru City Corporation for preparing the annual budget for 2021-22 here on Wednesday.
The civic body had invited civil society members to seek their suggestions before finalising the budget for the next financial year.
Pointing out at the attendance of only six persons from the general public, G. Hanumantha Kamath, president of Nagarika Hitarakshana Samithi, Mangaluru, told Mayor Diwakar that the corporation has not invited representatives of various organisations and professional bodies this time by sending them letters. ....
