They are essentially the caretakers of the oceans, acting as natural water purifiers by cleaning out pollution from seas and rivers. Around 1,300 native oysters have been returned to waters in River Conwy, North Wales, as part of a project to bring back these creatures from the brink of extinction. The Wild Oysters Project – a partnership between Zoological Society of London, Blue Marine Foundation, and British Marine – aims to restore healthy, resilient coastal waters to the UK. In a bid to restore native oyster populations, nurseries filled with oysters will be suspended underneath marina pontoons in Conwy Marina and Deganwy Marina. ....

Place North West | Cole Waterhouse appoints MD for resi arm

The developer has split its operations into two divisions, commercial and residential, and appointed Simon Gallanders as managing director of the latter.
Gallanders has joined Cole Waterhouse Residential from Real Estate Investment Partnerships, where he spent the last 12 years.
REIP, the firm behind the controversial Warp & Weft scheme in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, is Cole Waterhouse’s sister company.
Both the commercial and residential elements of Cole Waterhouse’s operations are ultimately led by chief executive Damian Flood, executive director Greg Ritchie and chief operating officer Rod Priestley.
There are plans in place to structure the commercial side of the business in a similar way to the residential arm but no managing director has been appointed as of yet, the company said. ....

Cole Waterhouse and Peveril Securities’ hope of bringing forward up to 275,000 sq ft of warehousing close to the AJ Bell Stadium have moved closer after the council approved their bid to buy the site.
Place North West understands that the site is now under offer to a joint venture between the two developers, following strong competition for the asset in a market hamstrung by lack of supply of industrial property in good locations.
The stadium and its surrounds sit between the A57 and Manchester Ship Canal, close to the M60. Although the land is owned by a vehicle of landowner Peel Group called the City of Salford Community Stadium, the city council holds a charge over the site dating back to when it was first developed. ....

Local contractor wins £75m Salford high-rise

Green light for 29-storey Anchorage Gateway was given in October
Manchester contractor Domis Construction has won the job to build a £75m mixed-use tower in Salford Quays for developer Cole Waterhouse.
The 29-storey scheme, known as Anchorage Gateway, will include 4,000sq ft of commercial space and 27 residential storeys providing 290 homes.
The Anchorage Gateway scheme has been designed by Chapman Taylor
The Chapman Taylor-designed scheme was given the green light by the city council in October after a series of design changes which added two shared terraces for residents and several rooftop apartments.
Planning consultant WSP, structural engineer Renaissance, M&E contractor Novo, landscape architect Exterior Architecture, project manager and QS Henry Riley are also on the project team. ....

Place North West | Domis primed to start Anchorage Gateway in January

The contractor will start the demolition of a vacant office building on the site in the new year, paving the way for the construction of developer Cole Waterhouse’s 28-storey Salford apartment block.
The main phase of construction of the 290-apartment development, next to Anchorage tram stop in Salford Quays, will begin in May and completion is scheduled for July 2023, according to a construction management statement prepared by Domis.
Architect Chapman Taylor designed the L-shaped development, which features 4,000 sq ft of commercial space as well as public realm.
There will be two landscaped terrace gardens for residents, on the mezzanine and at level 19. The rooftop penthouse apartments will have private terraces. ....
