Broncos remain winless against Regina Pats April 7, 2021 The Swift Current Broncos remain without an answer for Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats this season. Bedard finished with four points as the Pats defeated the Broncos for a third time this season in a 6-1 win. The Pats jumped ahead with Carson Denomie’s 12 th goal of the season and a power play goal from Logan Nijhoff. Mathew Ward gave the Broncos a glimmer of hope when he scored with only 29.1 seconds left in the opening period with a perfect shot to the top corner. The Pats scored four goals in the third period to close out the scoring, led by two goals from Bedard. The Western Hockey League’s first ‘exceptional status’ player now leads the WHL with 26 points in 14 games. Bedard finished the season series with 10 points in three games. He will miss the series finale after being named to Team Canada for the U18 World Championships. ....

Pats forward Connor Bedard continued his hot start to the season, with the first overall pick in the 2020 bantam draft recording two assists in the game at the Brandt Centre. But it was Warriors forward Brayden Yager, who was taken just two picks after Bedard, who helped his team get the win. Yager assisted on Daemon Hunt’s game-winner in overtime for his third point of the game. ....

Normally the rivalry between the two clubs, who are only separated by a two-hour drive along Highway 11, would have fans in the stands cheering and booing, hoping their team bests the rival. “It’s pretty weird not having anyone in the stands. We really make our own energy and we were really loud out there tonight and we were kind of feeding off each other,” said Blades forward Blake Stevenson, who had two goals including the game-winner. ....
