Daily Times July 26, 2021 Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) president Saleem-uz-Zaman has rejected the increase in the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and termed it unacceptable. He said industries could not afford the frequent increases in the LPG price as it also increases the cost of production. Saleem said natural gas has already become extinct in the country. And it was upon insistence and assurance by the government that industrialists shifted to expensive alternative sources including LPG and RLNG but the government failed to keep their prices stable. It is the responsibility of the government to provide uninterrupted and low-cost gas to the industries, which is also their legal and constitutional right. He said to promote industrialisation in the country, prices should be fixed once and for all so that it would be possible to supply LPG to industries at the same price. Daily Times July 20, 2021 Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) president Saleem-uz-Zaman has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to reverse the recent rise in the prices of petroleum products. KATI chief said the recent increase in prices of petroleum products would raise the cost of production as well, which will, as a result, raise the prices and fuel inflation. KATI president added that the recent increase would affect not only industrialists but also ordinary people. He said the crisis caused by Covid-19 had affected industries and businesses and people were already under economic pressure. The most needed step in such a situation is to provide maximum relief to the people and not aggravate their plight. July 15, 2021 KARACHI: Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has said the Sindh government has duly exercised its power to notify Rs25,000 as the minimum monthly wage for labourers in the province. Talking to The News on Wednesday, Ghani completely negated the impression that the Sindh government had not completed due procedure as prescribed in the Sindh Minimum Wages Act-2015 while notifying the latest minimum wage for labourers. He clarified that it was basically the prerogative of the provincial government/cabinet to decide the minimum wage for workers in the province. The minister said that the Sindh Minimum Wages Board was only supposed to give its recommendation to the provincial government as the cabinet takes the final decision in this regard. ....
