Date Time Free workshops to upskill job seekers After a successful first round of upskilling workshops, Corangamite Shire residents have more opportunities to become more employable. The free Upskilling Corangamite workshops aim to help residents secure their working futures coming out of the COVID-19 restrictions. Council Manager Growth and Engagement Rory Neeson said the first of the one-day sessions CPR at Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club, Responsible Service of Alcohol at the Timboon Distillery, artisan business development at Timboon Fine Ice Cream, and coffee making had been very well received. “Upskilling Corangamite workshops are part of our COVID Recovery Program, co-funded by the State Government,” Mr Neeson said. ....
Date Time Education to help reduce waste, emissions Corangamite Shire residents can learn how to minimise their impact on the environment at an upcoming series of free workshops. Council has teamed up with Good for the Hood a social enterprise that aims to empower everyday people to be advocates for a sustainable future. Host Jo Taranto has worked with the ABC’s ‘War on Waste’ and ‘Fight for Planet A: Our Climate Challenge’. She will join in virtually to talk about emissions and actions that can create a positive impact and opportunity for community leadership. Ms Taranto has qualifications in health science and environment, and more than 20 years of behaviour change experience, most recently with local governments and social enterprises in New South Wales and Victoria. ....
Date Time Works to start on Derrinallum public toilet project A high priority community project to replace Derrinallum’s public toilets will start Tuesday 11 May and finish in July. The new toilet block will be constructed off site and installed on the site of the existing toilet in the town avenue. Temporary public toilets will be available in the avenue while the project is underway. The new facility has two separate male and female toilets, a unisex ambulant toilet, and a unisex accessible toilet with baby change table. Mayor Ruth Gstrein said the condition of the existing toilet block and structural concerns warranted replacement. ....
