Temple Civic Theater to present first production since pandemic

Let the show go on. Temple Civic Theater will present its first full-audience production since before the COVID-19 pandemic with a new show featuring music from many generations. The show — 5 Til Places: A musical Revue — will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at TCT. The revue is co-directed by Priscilla Santana and Trey Shonkwiler. “The production will include Broadway songs and contemporary tunes from the Golden Age through modern contemporary musical theater,” Shonkwiler said. According to Santana, the cast includes actors of all ages. “We’re excited to be featuring a cast from our youth all the way up to our veteran performers that have been on the Temple Civic Theater stage for many years,” she said.

Temple EDC launches website for relocations

A new website developed by Temple’s Economic Development Corp. provides businesses and residents interested in relocating with information detailing just about every aspect of local life. The website MeetTemple.com features a cost-of-living calculator, a job search tool and an employer toolkit filled with tools to help local human resources professionals recruit new talent, said Amanda Carson, TEDC’s director of marketing and communications. “This is kind of my baby,” Carson said. “The site showcases Temple and gives hiring professionals a recruiting toolbox. “The website helps local employers attract talent to our growing city and helps job seekers find new opportunities here,” she said.

Temple Civic Theater launches Backstage talk show Saturday

The Temple Civic Theater is launching a new talk show Saturday night that will focus on the actors, directors and crew of past and future productions. The show — Backstage at TCT — will air at 7 p.m. on the group’s YouTube channel and will be hosted by Kelly Fitzgerald. “We’re really excited about the show,” said Gary Gosney, Temple Civic Theater president. “Kelly will take viewers behind the scenes and talk about what goes into a TCT production.” Fitzgerald, a TCT board member, said Saturday’s show will feature interviews with Gosney and longtime actors and volunteers Janice Wilson, Betsi Chamlee and Wayne Bachus.
