The excitement of applying to colleges and discussing potential career paths with classmates could be a lot to handle for some. When you add the challenges of online school and shortened athletic calendars caused by the COVID-19 outbreak on top of all that, it’s easy to see how a high schooler could be overwhelmed. Stone will be strapping it up for the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds this fall. Stone is a big physical receiver with a keen ability to highpoint the football and is not afraid to mix it up in the run game when necessary. Not just an offensive standout, Stone is also a talented defender and was a First Team All-State selection at defensive back following his junior season.

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record By Zac Alfers Special to RDR Sports Goddard High School football standout Fernando Rubio will be taking his talents to the collegiate level after signing a National Letter of Intent to play at Eastern New Mexico University this upcoming fall. Fernando is a strong, versatile football player who has led his squad in tackles for the past two seasons. At 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, the 17-year-old wreaked havoc on both sides of the ball earning First Team All-District accolades as a junior at tight end and defensive end. His work in the classroom has been just as impressive as his athletic accomplishments. After being named to the All-Academic Team for the past three years, Fernando has maintained a 3.7 overall GPA and currently holds a perfect 4.0 this semester.
