Stone will be strapping it up for the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds this fall. Stone is a big physical receiver with a keen ability to highpoint the football and is not afraid to mix it up in the run game when necessary. Not just an offensive standout, Stone is also a talented defender and was a First Team All-State selection at defensive back following his junior season.

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record By Zac Alfers Special to RDR Sports Goddard High School football standout Fernando Rubio will be taking his talents to the collegiate level after signing a National Letter of Intent to play at Eastern New Mexico University this upcoming fall. Fernando is a strong, versatile football player who has led his squad in tackles for the past two seasons. At 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, the 17-year-old wreaked havoc on both sides of the ball earning First Team All-District accolades as a junior at tight end and defensive end. His work in the classroom has been just as impressive as his athletic accomplishments. After being named to the All-Academic Team for the past three years, Fernando has maintained a 3.7 overall GPA and currently holds a perfect 4.0 this semester.

On Nov. 7, Goddard’s Gabriel Campos knew that no matter what, he was playing with house money. When he took the field at the University of the Southwest, Campos had a scholarship from Luna Community College in his back pocket.

That’s why they enrolled her in dance at Ms. Minnie’s, and signed her up at 3 years old to play soccer at Roswell Youth Soccer Association. (Shawn Naranjo Photo) What Caitlyn Schmidt found at a young age was a game to love in soccer, and a passion to excel. While playing soccer, she found a best friend in Averi Mann. Along with finding a sport to love and a best friend, she found a team that would travel the state of New Mexico in search of competition to get better.
