COVID-19 is the worst. Tim Bono, campus happiness expert, won’t pretend otherwise. But if we are to protect our mental, as well as our physical, health, it’s vital to celebrate small kindnesses, moments of beauty and pieces of good news. “The Gratitude Project,” a new video series, highlights Washington University in St. Louis faculty, staff and students rising up for the greater good. 
“Despite the challenges, we can still take some time to watch one of our colleagues running down the street in a gingerbread costume to bring cheer to his co-workers or a sloth at the Dallas Zoo wishing students well,” said Bono, assistant dean for assessment in Student Affairs and lecturer in psychological and brain sciences in Arts & Sciences. He produced the series with Jeff Allen, manager of the Harvey Media Center. “Practicing gratitude does not trivialize trauma or deny it, but it can help us cope.” ....

Carver first responders administered the Moderna vaccine in Duxbury

CARVER – Duxbury officials hosed a regional vaccine site for first responders from multiple towns including Carver last week.
While some of the first responders from Carver, Duxbury, Kingston, Hanover, Marshfield, Pembroke and Plympton were given the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday, the rest were to receive the vaccination today or Sunday.
They will be administered the second dose at Duxbury Middle High School, Duxbury’s emergency dispensing site, in February as they continue to respond to and take care of COVID patients on a daily basis.
Duxbury Fire Captain Rob Reardon, the public information officer for Duxbury, said of the 600 total doses, 120 went to Hanover to take care of one of their partners and the other 480 doses were divided among the other towns. ....

More than 200 inmates at Jefferson County Jail are looking at a longer sentence after Jefferson County Sheriff s Office leaders re-evaluated the sentencing system over the summer and made changes.
