Obituary: David Gorsuch

David Gorsuch passed away at home, surrounded by family, on June 26, 2021, in Vail, Colorado. He was 82 years old. David was born in Climax, Colorado, on Sept. 22, 1938, 11,360 feet above sea level. The allure of mountain summits never lost its hold on him. David, a promising young racer, competed in the 1954 Junior Nationals in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. There, he met Renie Cox, a young woman from the Northeast and a top competitor. They shared the podium that year as medal winners. David competed in the 1958 Alpine World Championships in Bad Gastein, Austria. The pair competed internationally and were members of the 1960 U.S. Ski Team that competed in the Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, California.

Colorado Business Hall of Fame Summit aims to inspire teens to innovate Denver7 and last updated 2021-02-15 16:51:40-05 Teens interested in running their own business someday will have the opportunity to interact with two of Colorado’s most influential business leaders and two up-and-coming entrepreneurs through the Colorado Business Hall of Fame Summit, a virtual Q&A produced by Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain, the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and Techstars. The event will be moderated by Denver7’s Brian Sanders. Two past inductees of the Colorado Business Hall of Fame, which has honored Colorado business leaders since 1990, will be answering questions from teens interested in entrepreneurship:

But its highest honor, the Citizen of the West, could not skip a year. “I wasn’t expecting it,” said Ron Williams, the 74-year-old business leader, philanthropist and former National Western Stock Show chairman who received the award this week. “But I knew I’d be terribly appreciative if I did. There are a lot of great candidates for it here, but I’m honored I ended up being the one for this coming year.”

This prestigious annual award recognizes those who embody Western pioneers’ spirit and determination and perpetuate their agricultural heritage and ideals. A committee of community leaders selects recipients. Williams has been selected for this esteemed honor. Still, in light of the 2021 National Western Stock Show postponement, he will receive the award at a dinner in January 2022 at the National Western Events Center. Proceeds from the event support 100 scholarships the National Western Scholarship Trust awards annually to students that attend colleges and universities in Colorado and Wyoming and major in agricultural science, rural medicine or veterinary medicine.
