From May 24-June 6, 2021, state and local law enforcement agencies across the nation are stepping up their enforcement efforts for motorists who aren’t wearing their seat belts. For this year’s Click It or Ticket seat belt mobilization effort, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Kansas Department of Transportation aim to increase law enforcement participation by coordinating highly visible seat belt enforcement and encouraging drivers and passengers to buckle up at heavily traveled, highly visible state checkpoints.
· One of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up. Many Americans understand the lifesaving value of the seatbelt – the national use rate was at 90.7 percent in 2019. Understand the potentially fatal consequences of not wearing a seatbelt and learn what you can do to make sure you and your family are properly buckled up every time.
