Uwe Richter, the head of the Doggerbank fishing group in the vital port city of Bremerhaven, has warned many vessels have been left vacant and fleets unable to earn money after an EU agreement collapsed. Mr Richter explained a treaty with the EU and nations, including Norway and Greenland, expired in January.

Last month, Boris Johnson secured a zero quotas and zero tariffs Brexit trade deal with the EU, days before the end of the transition period. The new deal came into effect at 11pm on December 31.
Brexit Britain is not as independent as Boris Johnson promised it would be when he vowed to deliver an oven-ready Brexit deal with the EU, a political expert has claimed.
Speaking to DW, political scientist Tanja Borzel claimed Boris Johnson has failed to deliver on his promise to take back control as she analysed the Brexit deal the Prime Minister has signed with the EU in December.
Ms Borzel argued that as the UK will still be forced to comply with some EU laws and to pay into the Brussels annual budget, Britain is yet to be independent from the bloc.
