Former Brexit Party MEP Ben Habib insisted the EU is still concerned about the future for Britain. While speaking on Brexit Unlocked, Mr Habib argued the EU is hopeful the frustrations around the fishing deal will help invigorate Nicola Sturgeon s argument for independence. He said the EU is hoping the UK will struggle following Brexit and therefore no longer pose a threat to the European Union in the future.

Liam Campling, Professor of International Business and Development at Queen Mary University, insisted Boris Johnson and his team had shown poor planning when dealing with the European Union. During an interview with Express.co.uk, Professor Campling argued the Brexit fishing deal the UK secured was unimpressive. He noted how well the EU has been able to negotiate on fishing in the past and highlighted the UK s inability to satisfy British fishermen overall.

Fishing firms in the UK and Europe have been hit with massive disruption in the 17 days since Britain left the EU, with post-Brexit red tape causing delays and confusion at ports. The UK left the EU single market and customs union from January 1 as part of the landmark Trade and Corporation Agreement (TCA). Under the terms of the treaty, the UK became an independent coastal state and free from the EU’s controversial Common Fisheries Policy.
Brexit Britain is not as independent as Boris Johnson promised it would be when he vowed to deliver an oven-ready Brexit deal with the EU, a political expert has claimed.
Speaking to DW, political scientist Tanja Borzel claimed Boris Johnson has failed to deliver on his promise to take back control as she analysed the Brexit deal the Prime Minister has signed with the EU in December.
Ms Borzel argued that as the UK will still be forced to comply with some EU laws and to pay into the Brussels annual budget, Britain is yet to be independent from the bloc.
