Postal wars: SA Post Office and courier industry to battle over right to deliver small packages
SAPO has a ‘constitutionally justifiable’ monopoly on delivering items under 1kg but courier companies are taking the matter to court.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has criticised the South African Post Office (SAPO) and the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) for attempting to stop courier companies from delivering small items that weigh less than one kilogram.
SAPO, Postnet and the SA Express Parcel Association will face off in court later this year. However, for now things remain as they are in the courier industry. The DA’s Deputy Shadow Minister of Communications, Cameron MacKenzie accused SAPO trying to have its cake and eat it too. ....

Although the Covid-19 pandemic has put a dampener on its centenary celebrations, Australiaâs flag carrier is still finding ways to commemorate the milestone. Qantas has teamed up with Four Pillars Gin â a craft distillery based in the Yarra Valley northeast of Melbourne â to release a uniquely Australian gin to mark the 100th anniversary of its founding in the outback town of Longreach.
The limited-edition QF100 gin features botanicals sourced from the central western Queensland region where Qantas was born a century ago. To create a gin that captured the spirit of the national airline, Four Pillars co-founder and distiller Cameron Mackenzie traveled to the outback community to forage for botanicals native to the area, under the guidance of local indigenous ....

Qantas and Four Pillars have released a uniquely Australian gin to commemorate the centenary of the national carrier.
The QF100 gin traces its roots back to Longreach, the birthplace of Qantas, and features botanicals sourced from the central-western Queensland region.
Four Pillars co-founder and distiller Cameron Mackenzie said he wanted to create a gin that encapsulated the ’Spirit of Australia’ and travelled to the outback community to forage for botanicals native to the area, under the guidance of local indigenous elder Suzanne Thompson.
“For 100 years, Qantas has connected Australians with the world, shaping the country we live in today,” he said. ....
