Nafiz Modack in the dock for corruption alongside Anti-Gang Unit member

Alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack was back in court on Tuesday - this time on corruption charges for allegedly bribing an officer for police intel.
Nafiz Modack and Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) member Ashley Tabischer appeared in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate s Court on corruption charges.
It s alleged that Modack bribed the 39-year-old officer in exchange for police information, reports Eyewitness News journalist Kevin Brandt.
Modack is also facing a range of other charges relating to alleged gang activity and conspiracy to commit murder.
This is in connection with an alleged plot involving a hand grenade outside the home AGU detective Charl Kinnear in 2019.

CAPE TOWN - Alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday with three others suspects.
They were arrested in Century City by the South African Police Services Anti-Gang Unit.
Numerous unlicensed firearms were also seized.

CAPE TOWN - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said that a man accused of starting a fire on the slopes of Devil s Peak could not be linked to arson.
Frederick Mhangazo appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was granted bail of R500.
Frederick Mhangazo: Cape Town fire arson charges dropped
The state dropped the charges of arson against Frederick Mhangazo on Wednesday. He now faces a lesser charge for a fire he allegedly started.
Frederick Mhaganzo, the man accused of starting a fire in Cape Town, was released on R500 bail at the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 28 April. Mhangazo was initially charged with arson, which carries a minimum sentence of 15 years imprisonment, but National Prosecuting said there was not enough evidence to justify the charge.
Mhangazo is now charged with allegedly contravening the National Environmental Management Act, which carries a possible sentence of three years.
