In his expanded role, the London-based Bebawi will be tasked with overseeing the publisher’s worldwide digital licensing strategies and managing the Sony/ATV digital team. He will also be responsible with developing and maintaining positive relationships with digital service partners worldwide.
During his time at Sony/ATV, Bebawi has led key digital initiatives and led the negotiation of deals with the major digital services. He has additionally focused on streamlining digital royalty processing to improve accuracy and transparency in the evolving streaming landscape.
Bebawi started his publishing career at EMI Music Publishing in Sept. 2005, when he joined as UK head of business affairs after serving as a partner at London-based media and entertainment law firm Harbottle and Lewis. Radio juggernaut iHeartMedia has announced a Mobile-based attorney, Gabe Fleet, as its new executive vice president of business affairs and chief music licensing counsel.
According to a statement released by iHeartMedia, Fleet “will lead iHeartMedia’s Business Affairs team and focus on strategic deals and relationships with the company’s music and entertainment partners and be responsible for business and legal affairs across the company’s divisions, multiplatform assets and tentpole events.” He also will “spearhead the company’s music licensing strategy” including oversight of industry and performance licenses.
