Paramedics took about 30 minutes to reach an elderly lady who had fallen over in Faversham town centre because access was blocked by a barrier.
The obstruction has been ever-present in the town since Swale Borough Council and Kent County Council agreed to ban vehicle access in an effort to promote social distancing in the main shopping streets.

Responding to a call-out of a woman slipping on ice in West Street and injuring herself this morning, paramedics attempted to reach the victim in haste. ....

Three off-road driving enthusiasts helped dig out people stranded in snow in temperatures of -4 degrees - with two of them just having had their Covid vaccines.
Photographer Alex Sartain from Deal had only just received a jab in Dover Health centre with friend Richard Manion who came across a post on a green lane driving site calling for help pulling a family out of deep snow in Folkestone.

Residents say they will live in a goldfish bowl if a planned prison-like block of flats towers over their houses.
They say, with the traffic it would generate, it is too close to a danger junction where a woman was killed just over three years ago.

Earlier, the prime minister appeared to be strangely unaware of the volume of traffic that was building up.
In his press conference this afternoon, Boris Johnson told journalists there were 174 parked lorries.
At the time he was speaking, Kent Highways was telling me there were 500 in the queues and that number has risen further.
Johnson also said the delays were “only occurring at Dover” which handles “only 20%” of the goods sent from the UK to the EU. Remarkably, he failed to mention Eurotunnel. ....

Many broadcast news bulletins featured footage of lorries queuing for miles along the M20 in Kent yesterday (Monday) after France closed its border with the UK.
But Boris Johnson gave a televised briefing putting what appeared to be a positive gloss on events and stressing that the government and local authorities had contingency plans in place.
The prime minister said: “We’ve activated our long-prepared plans, with the result that we’ve already been able to reduce the number of lorries waiting on the M20 from 500 to 170.”
Mr Johnson was speaking just before ten past five on Monday afternoon. He didn’t give any indication that he had an earlier time in mind when he talked about the number of lorries falling. ....
