GATLINBURG â The city recently submitted an application for a Tennessee Dog Park Dash grant and now needs the publicâs help in moving to the next phase of the grant process.
âWe are happy to say the city was selected on Friday, April 30, to advance to what is called the social engagement phase of the Tennessee Dog Park Dash grant program,â City Manager Cindy Cameron Ogle said.
âAs part of the social engagement phase the city needs the support from the public during this portion of the grant process.â
Gatlinburg is one of 20 communities across the state which qualified for the Social Engagement Phase of the grant application process, which runs through May 31.
âAs you are aware traffic volumes have been unprecedented in Gatlinburg and Sevier County since the economic reopening last Summer. If approved, this study would seek to make recommendations on how better to move vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the downtown area,â Butler said.
âAlso as part of the study, traffic projections for 10 years in the future will also be done to help develop long-term recommendations. The proposed study is in the amount of $91,500.â
The city will also consider change orders involving the Mynatt Park ADA Accessibility Project.
A change order of $140,975 by Whaley Construction is focused on the installation of a retaining wall at the basketball court, installation of handrails with integrated LED lighting, and replacement of curbing in parking lots.
