The number 20 Winona State softball team used some late game heroics to defeat University of Minnesota Duluth 8-3 in game one of their April 25 doubleheader. That magic couldn’t be replicated in game two however, as the Bulldogs would snap WSU’s season-high, 11-game winning streak with a 4-2 win.
The Warriors move to 28-7 (17-5 conference) after the split while Duluth moves to 25-11 (15-7 conference).
In game one, the story of the first six innings of game one was missed opportunities for the Warriors, as they managed to score just one run while leaving 11 runners on base. Katie Kolb scored the only run of the first six innings for the Warriors on an RBI double by Rylee Stout.

So you know what that means–it’s Senior Day.
And what a senior class this is for the Warriors: four-year senior Carly Kordish, and COVID seniors Jordyn Kleman, Ali Nowak and Katie Kolb. Kordich is a 2019 NSIC All-Tournament outfielder, while the other three each decided to use their extra year of eligibility for one last ride with the Warriors. Nowak and Kolb are two of the best hitters the Warriors have ever seen, with Kolb an on-base machine and Nowak with a career batting average well over .400.

The 20th-ranked Winona State University (WSU) softball team traveled north to take on the Concordia University - St. Paul (CSP) Golden Bears on Thursday, the first of three conference doubleheaders the Warriors will play over the next four days.
Although the Warriors were held to just five hits in game one, tying their second-lowest hit total of the season, CSP had to contend with Jordyn Kleman who dominated the Golden Bear batting lineup from the opening inning, guiding the Warriors to a 2-0 win.
In game two, Liz Pautz plowed through the CSP order, allowing just four hits and one run.
