(4/28/2021) The 20th-ranked Winona State University (WSU) softball team traveled north to take on the Concordia University - St. Paul (CSP) Golden Bears on Thursday, the first of three conference doubleheaders the Warriors will play over the next four days. Although the Warriors were held to just five hits in game one, tying their second-lowest hit total of the season, CSP had to contend with Jordyn Kleman who dominated the Golden Bear batting lineup from the opening inning, guiding the Warriors to a 2-0 win. In game two, Liz Pautz plowed through the CSP order, allowing just four hits and one run. ....

It was a tale of two games on Saturday for number 13 Winona State University (WSU) softball against Northern State University. Winona State put people on base but struggled to bring them home in a 10-3 opening game loss. Late-game heroics were needed in the second game as Winona State managed come away with a suspenseful 10-9 victory. With the split Winona State moves to 16-3 (5-1 NSIC) while Northern State moves to 12-8 (3-3 NSIC). In game one, after an incredible 34 runs in their previous two games, Winona State looked like they were going to pick up right where they left off as Abbie Hlas and Teaghen Amwoza scored on an RBI single by Katie Kolb in the second inning to give WSU a 2-0 lead. ....
Winona State doubles up on Player of the Week awards in softball (3/17/2021) Liz Pautz A road trip in which the 15th-ranked Winona State University softball team went 4-0 last week yielded a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors for the Warriors. Senior pitcher Liz Pautz was tabbed Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 for head coach Greg Jones, claiming a 13-1 win on Tuesday, March 9, against the University of Illinois - Springfield and a 6-2 victory of University of Missouri - St. Louis on Wednesday, March 10. Pautz collected 21 strikeouts over the two games and ran her record to 4-0 on the year. ....
