Times Leader Staff Writer CADIZ Beginning later this month, a food truck vendor will set up shop each week in the village as a part of its new Food Truck Fridays. The Cadiz Business Association is sponsoring the upcoming events. Cadiz Police Chief Ryan McCann, who is also president of the CBA, said the village wanted to bring something new to the community that residents would enjoy. “We wanted to come up with something for right now to provide something different for people in the community,” he said. “We’ve seen other communities doing it and thought it would be a good thing for people to get out and enjoy.”

The department, along with several other organizations, is holding annual fish frys again this year. Some groups have opted not to hold the frys because of ongoing COVID-19 concerns. With the Lenten season underway, many Ohio Valley residents are getting their Friday fish fixes at local fish frys across the Ohio Valley. Although the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many people want to observe the religious tradition of giving up something for Lent. This often means a meatless Friday every week and the tradition of eating fish instead until Easter.

Red Cross calls for healthy blood donors following severe weather CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – Record-breaking cold and winter storms across much of the U.S. have had a significant impact on blood donations. The American Red Cross is urging healthy individuals, especially those with type O blood, to give now to ensure blood products are available for patient emergencies when help can’t wait. Extreme winter weather has forced the cancellation of hundreds of Red Cross blood drives in about 30 states and caused more than 15,000 blood and platelet donations to go uncollected. In Ohio, 600 units have gone uncollected as at least 20 blood drives canceled across the state.
