Selkirk College Doing Its Part to Assist Vaccine Rollout

With the din of student activity on Selkirk College campuses dullened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Campus Manager Tarunjit Jassar says providing space to Interior Health for its vaccination clinics has brought vital energy back to previously quiet hallways.
Since the vaccine clinics began on the Castlegar Campus and Nelson’s Tenth Street Campus in March 2021, residents from two of the region’s biggest population centres have been provided the doses aimed at getting life back to normal in British Columbia. ....

How communities were supported by lockdown campaigns


We delivered leaflets ourselves to spread the word too and the pieces in the paper really helped. 
There was one particularly lovely piece about our help getting prescriptions and we had lots of people get in touch with us after that. 
Of course, not everyone has social media and we can t take it for granted that everyone has a computer or wifi. 
We re grateful for the press coverage we got and I think it helped people.

Kerry Clark doesn’t normally pick up hitchhikers. On Monday he did.
A chance stop at the Prince George tourist centre while listening to radio reports about the disappearance of Nicole Hoar convinced the Dawson Creek resident to ignore his usual sense of caution and pick up two young woman sitting with thumbs out on Highway 97 just south of Highway 16.
“I was going to ask them if they knew about it (the disappearance of Hoar),” said the soft spoken Clark, who was on his way to Vancouver on business.
Hoar, a tree planter from Red Deer, Alberta, disappeared while hitchhiking on Highway 16 to Smithers. She was dropped off by friends on June 21 and has not been seen since, despite a massive ground search and province-wide media attention. ....

Funeral for one of Britain's oldest identical twins stops off at her favourite supermarket Asda


The funeral for one of Britain s oldest identical twins stopped off at her favourite supermarket Asda where she was a loyal customer for 20 years. 
As part of the send off for Doris Hobday, who died in January after a two-week battle with coronavirus aged 96, shopped at the store in Great Bridge, Tipton, West Midlands, for decades.
She and her sister were such big fans of the store, last August supermarket bosses opened early and laid on a special Covid-friendly shopping trip for Doris and twin Lilian Cox as a 96th birthday present.
