Three members of Temple’s Zoning Board of Adjustment and two alternates resigned Wednesday night, a day after the Select Board made new appointments against standing ZBA members’ wishes.
ZBA Chair John Kieley, Greg Robidoux, Mary Beth Ayvazian, and alternate members Deb Deieso and Gail Cromwell all resigned on Wednesday after the Temple Select Board refused to reappoint Deieso as a full member, instead appointing her as an alternate and voting 2-1 to appoint Emily Sliviak as a full member on Tuesday night. They also unanimously appointed Allan Pickman as an alternate at that meeting, and reappointed Kieley as a full member.

Joe Cournoyer was everywhere in Temple. You could find him behind the counter at Willard’s Store, which he ran with his wife, Peggy, for the last 48 years, and also behind just about every holiday event and ball game. If you called the old Temple information line, Joe would be on the other end. He might have granted you a fire permit on behalf of the Fire Department, or waved to you as Santa around the holidays.
“Joe knew every single baby born, every single graduate’s name, every wedding and funeral,” former softball teammate Rob Hannings said. “[He and Peggy] knew everything about the town of Temple… you can’t be more involved in a community,” he said.

The Temple Select Board’s unanimous vote to postpone Town Meeting and ballot voting until June leaves Temple as the sole ConVal town to defer voting on the school district warrant.
The remainder of the nine towns which make up the ConVal district are scheduled to vote on the school warrant on March 9. On Monday night, Temple’s Select Board voted to reschedule voting on the school warrant and local officials to June 8 and to defer their Town Meeting to June 12. Legal review is ongoing, Select Board member Bill Ezell said, but Temple interpreted the wording of the Governor’s executive order to mean they could postpone voting for their school district’s warrant as well as town-specific items. In the instance that Temple learns the law does, in fact, require the town to vote on the school warrant on March 9, “we are going to protest loudly,” he said.
