Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Temple ZBA resigns en masse after clash with Select Board

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Published: 7/15/2021 4:31:17 PM Three members of Temple’s Zoning Board of Adjustment and two alternates resigned Wednesday night, a day after the Select Board made new appointments against standing ZBA members’ wishes. ZBA Chair John Kieley, Greg Robidoux, Mary Beth Ayvazian, and alternate members Deb Deieso and Gail Cromwell all resigned on Wednesday after the Temple Select Board refused to reappoint Deieso as a full member, instead appointing her as an alternate and voting 2-1 to appoint Emily Sliviak as a full member on Tuesday night. They also unanimously appointed Allan Pickman as an alternate at that meeting, and reappointed Kieley as a full member.

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Temple residents historical construction equipment collection contested in junkyard lawsuit

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Published: 5/13/2021 1:46:51 PM Temple remains embroiled in a lawsuit that seeks to clean up what the town alleges is a junkyard, a year and a half after filing it. The site in question lies on West Road near the center of town, and is owned by John Jackson-Marsh and Alan Marsh. The landowners are collectors of historical construction equipment and belong to the Historical Construction Equipment Association, Jackson-Marsh said. “It’s a personal collection, that’s all it is,” he said. “Primarily, we live here,” he said of the property’s use. No commercial activity, abandoned vehicles, or vehicle recycling is associated with the site, he said. Jackson-Marsh declined to share the number of vehicles on site, saying he did not think it was relevant.

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Temple warrant includes broadband bond and town property changes

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Published: 2/19/2021 12:18:59 PM Temple residents are set to vote on a broadband internet bond and several recommendations from the town’s Land Use Committee at Town Meeting in June. Voting for elected officials is still scheduled for March 9 along with the required vote on the ConVal warrant. A motion to move the town vote back to June by Select Board member Bill Ezell went unseconded at a meeting on Feb. 9, despite several residents asking Ken Caisse and George Willard to reschedule due to COVID-19 concerns. The 2021 total operating budget is $1,230,558, a 0.2% increase from last year’s $1,228,165. Those totals do not include warrant article expenses.

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Temple to vote in March after all

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Published: 2/9/2021 7:37:58 AM Temple residents are now scheduled to vote on ConVal’s warrant and elect town officials on March 9, a reversal of the Select Board’s unanimous vote last Monday to postpone voting until June out of concerns for COVID-19. The Board reversed course at a meeting on Friday after the town’s legal counsel determined the town did actually have to vote on the school district’s warrant in March. All of the other eight towns in the ConVal School District opted to keep to the March 9 voting date prior to Temple’s decision. Although Temple could have continued to postpone local elections until June, Select Board Chair Ken Caisse said he thought it made more sense to just do it all in March. “If it was to have a vote just for the School Board, we wouldn’t have any kind of turnout,” he said. The decision to hold the vote for town officials in March passed two to one, with Select Board member Bill Ezell objecting, Caisse
