Police tracked down and arrested a Worcester man at a Sturbridge hotel Friday suspected of stabbing a woman in the neck Wednesday in Shrewsbury with a broken glass tube.
The suspect, identified as Carlos Gonzalez, 51, was charged with assault and battery on a family member, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and strangulation.
Gonzalez was also arrested on two previously existing warrants.
The arrest was made through a joint effort by Shrewsbury police detectives, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Sturbridge Police Department.
About 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to Extra Storage Space, 53 Clinton St. in Shrewsbury, after receiving a 911 call regarding a woman being stabbed in the neck.
WESTBORO A Worcester man arrested Friday stabbed his girlfriend in the neck with a crack pipe because she wouldn’t hide his drugs, authorities say, and later held her against her will at a Sturbridge hotel.
Carlos Gonzalez, of 68 Mason St., Apt. 3, was ordered held without bail Monday in Westboro District Court, and is likely to face additional charges in Sturbridge, a prosecutor said.
Gonzalez was arrested by several police agencies at a Sturbridge hotel Friday, two days after authorities say he stabbed his girlfriend at a storage facility in Shrewsbury.
Authorities responded to the Extra Storage Space at 53 Clinton St. around 5:45 p.m. for a 911 call of a woman being stabbed in the neck.
SHREWSBURY Police said they have a suspect who they say stabbed a woman in the neck Wednesday with a broken glass tube.
Police did not identify the suspect, but said they have obtained a warrant for their arrest, according to a department news release.
About 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to Extra Storage Space, 53 Clinton St., after receiving a 911 call regarding a woman being stabbed in the neck.
Police described the injury as a “severe stab wound.”
The 37-year-old woman was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive, police said. They did not identify the woman.
Shrewsbury police, as well as Boylston police and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council who sent a police dog and handler searched the area, but did not find the suspect.
