VASSAR – The Bad Axe girls basketball team wrapped up the 2020-2021 regular season with a 57-22 victory at Vassar on Tuesday night.
The Hatchets finish the season with an overall record of 11-2 and Greater Thumb Conference West record of 10-2. Bad Axe’s two losses both came at the hands of Reese, who wrapped up the GTC West title on Tuesday night with a 56-27 win over Caro. ....

The Kay County town of Tonkawa is headquarters for the Tonkawa Tribe of Oklahoma, where a museum preserves the tribe’s cultural heritage. This is the site of its former reservation and land allotted to 73 individual tribal members in 1891.
Later governed by a single chief, the Tonkawa people were originally a matrilineal society of extended family clans forming two moieties. Today, tribal matters are guided by a three-member committee elected biannually. ....

A Tauranga man accused of murdering a 17-month-old girl has vehemently denied he violently assaulted her while she was in his sole care.
The defence lawyer for Adrian Colin Clancy, 39, argued at his trial
there was no Crown evidence that linked Clancy to the alleged assault of the toddler.
Clancy has pleaded not guilty to murdering Sadie-Leigh Gardner in Tauranga on March 27, 2019. A trial by jury began in the High Court at Rotorua yesterday. ....
