CAÑON CITY A Pueblo West woman accused of stealing more than $10,500 from the Canon City Home Depot store was sentenced Tuesday to two years probation. Katie Viloria, 35, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft as part of a plea agreement presented in Fremont County District Court. Two other charges were dismissed. During sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Aaron Pembleton said a large amount of theft took place over “quite a long time frame,” but Viloria does not have any criminal history. “The people did not want her to have a deferred sentence but did not want to impact her life ongoing,” Pembleton said. ....
A 23-year-old man was shot Friday evening and brought to the emergency room of St. Thomas More Hospital in Cañon City. He was then flown to a hospital in Colorado Springs, where his condition was last listed as critical. The suspects in the shooting Orion Nolan, 43, and Susanna Daniels, 51 reportedly turned themselves in at the Fremont County Sheriff s Office on Sunday. Requests by the Chieftain for additional information on the nature of the crime and the charges levied against Nolan and Daniels were not returned by the Fremont County Sheriff s Office by Monday afternoon. The Southern Colorado Safe Streets Task Force is looking for two wanted street criminals. Preston Gutierrez, 24, is a 5-foot-10 Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes. He has three warrants for failure to appear on charges of motor vehicle theft and two counts of dangerous drugs. His bond is set at $15,000. Jennifer Carrier, 31, is a 5-foot-7 white female weighing about 130 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. She has a no-bond warrant for smuggling contraband into a prison. A man driving his 2009 Mercury Milan in the 1700 block of Kingsroyal Boulevard slid on snow Tuesday, causing him to crash into a residential fence. Due to the impact, the vehicle’s ignition was stuck and would not turn off, according to a Pueblo Police Department incident report. As the vehicle owner spoke with the owner of the residence, a white pickup truck believed to be a Ford F-150 pulled up and a man exited, hopped into the driver’s seat of the victim’s still-running vehicle and took off. The suspect was described as a heavy-set male wearing a white baseball cap and a black, hooded sweatshirt. The victim estimated the value of his stolen car at $2,000. Police are investigating. ....
