Trail Trek Challenge encourages families to experience nature
Free hiking program includes trail maps, treasure hunts.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – It’s prime hiking season in Wisconsin and prime time to join in on the “Trail Trek Challenge.”
The challenge is a free hiking program that encourages nature fans to hike around nature preserves in the Driftless Area.
The year-long program also includes a treasure hunt.
Hikers can use downloadable maps to find nature’s treasures along trails.
The La Crosse Public Library is also organizing monthly hikes as part of their summer programs.
Childrens Librarian Celine Donofrio says getting outside as a family is important.
La Crosse Public Library organizing city-wide book discussion

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) The La Crosse Public Library is hosting a community-wide book discussion centered around LGBTQ history in Wisconsin.
The library is encouraging people to pick up copies of “We Will Always Be Here: A Guide to Exploring and Understanding the History of LGBTQ+ Activism in Wisconsin” at the Main branch beginning Wednesday. The short book, written for young adults, tells the stories of important people and events in our state’s history.
Teens and adults are encouraged to join a book discussion with the authors at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4. Find out more information here.
