Compared to previous years, the Premium
Qatari Vegetables and Qatar Farms programmes have achieved significant sales during the year 2020. The sales of Premium Qatari Vegetables reached 4,565 tons compared to 2,740 tons in 2019, an increase of about 66%. The sales of Qatar Farms for the 2020 season were about 19,000 tons compared to 11,506 tons in 2019, an increase of about 64%.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment launched these programmes in co-operation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Their goals was to improve local marketing operations and help the farmers market their produce, helping Qatari farmers to display their local production of high-quality vegetables with affordable prices for the consumer without an intermediary, nor paying the farmer any financial commissions in return. ....

Qatar- MME sells 3,752 tonnes of local vegetables in January through farms programmes

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said that ‘Qatar Farms Programme and ‘Premium Qatar Farms Programme helped market over 3,752 tonnes of local vegetables in January.
Over 3265 tonnes of vegetables were sold out under Qatar Farms Programme, however Premium Qatar Farms Programme contributed in selling 487 tonnes vegetables.
The sale of premium Qatari vegetables increased 61 percent recording 487 tonnes vegetables in January 2021 compared to 302 tonnes vegetable in January 2020.
The local vegetables sold through Qatar Farm Programme witnessed 52 percent increase from 2141 tonnes in January 2020 to 3265 tonnes in January 2021.
The local product marketing programmes aim to improve the local marketing method for Qatari vegetables, increase demand for them, and reduce waste from production to a minimum, as well as to increase the income of Qatari farms to increase investment in the agricultural sector, and the ....
