The future of the Citizen s Bank Building in East Alton is not looking good for those that want to save the building. About five years ago, East Alton Mayor Joe Silkwood said on The Big Z there was a plan to demolish the building and turn it into green space, but he says the hope remains it can be repurposed.
A developer that had been in talks to buy the building about a year ago disappeared. Silkwood tells The Big Z time is running out, as the village has reached out to Congressman Mike Bost to see if any money for demolition is available through the recent stimulus package. ....
