East Bridgford and Aslockton has an infection rate of 833.4 in the seven days leading to February 16, putting it in the Government s highest risk category when it comes to Covid-19. This is due to 62 positive cases in the area during this period, putting the area far above the national average rate of 124.9. ....

The statistics he cites do not reflect the misery that thousands of patients have suffered as a result of their treatments being postponed. I should know. My own treatment for prostate cancer was delayed by six months and wasn’t completed until nine months after diagnosis. The specialist hospital that provided my care was largely mothballed. Staff later told me they had spent months twiddling their thumbs, as they had not been needed to look after Covid-19 patients. I’m assured that my prognosis will not be affected by the delay – but many people’s will be. ....

The county councilâs highways partner Via East Midlands has so far planted more than 160 new trees along some of the countyâs roadsides, with plans for the same again this year. Sites have also been earmarked for the planting of wildflowers to help attract wildlife to the grass verges and improve the overall environment.
