Following the roads sector, the Indian Railways, for the first time, is planning to introduce the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model for the construction of dedicated freight corridors (DFCs) by roping in private players.
Design, Build, Finance, Maintenance and Transfer (DBFMT), a type of BOT model, will be first experimented in a stretch of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) between Sonnagar in Bihar and Dankuni in West Bengal.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has held a meeting with officials on the Union Budget 2021-22 and examined the financial allocations offered to various sectors. The officials informed the CM that there were no major or special allocations to the state.
Although there were high hopes and expectations for special allocations to AP still facing odds due to the 2014 bifurcation, the Union Budget proved to be a disappointment, they told the CM.

The three upcoming dedicated freight corridors (DFC) announced by the Finance Minister (FM) Nirmala Sitharaman in Budget 2021 are expected to be built with an investment of about Rs 2.17 lakh crore, reports

In an effort to decrease logistics cost and aid the domestic manufacturing industry, on Monday (01 February) FM announced the East Coast Freight Corridor from Kharagpur to Vijayawada, East - West Freight Corridor from Bhusawal to Kharagpur to Dankuni and North - South Freight Corridor from Itarsi to Vijayawada.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Monday a record sum of Rs 1.1 lakh crore for the Railways, out of which Rs 1.07 lakh crore is for capital expenditure, and said the national transporter would monetise the dedicated freight corridors after its commissioning.
Presenting the Union Budget 2021-22, Sitharaman also applauded the services provided by the Railways to transport essential goods across the country during the coronavirus lockdown.
“I am announcing a record sum of Rs 1,10,055 crore for railways of which Rs 1,07,100 crore is for capital expenditure only,” she said.
“Indian Railways have prepared a National Rail Plan for India 2030. The plan is to create a future ready railway system by 2030 bringing down the logistic cost for industry at the core of the strategy to enable Make In India,” Sitharaman said.
