THE parents of a baby who was born at just 26 weeks old has thanked the hospital staff for caring for their little miracle. Melissa and Ben Kavanagh’s baby daughter Grace was born at South Lakes Birth Centre in Barrow 14 weeks short of the full gestation period. The Askam parents, who already had a son George, described the experience as ‘very scary’ but praised the unit for their outstanding care. Mrs Kavanagh said: “Having a baby at 26 weeks is very scary and as a family we wanted to be able to give something back to our local unit. The birth centre helped us immensely on our journey both before and after Grace was born.” ....

Katie and Oliver Lupton raised the funds after staff at the unit cared for their twin girls Ella and Molly for 12 days in January when they were born six weeks early. Katie said: âWe really wanted to give something back for the care they gave to them and everything they did for us as a family. “Nothing was ever too much for them and every question we had was answered.” ....
A FAMILY has given back to the baby ward which cared for their premature twin girls. A family from Millom has raised £1,800 for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Furness General Hospital (FGH). Katie and Oliver Lupton raised the funds after staff at the SCBU cared for their twin girls Ella and Molly for 12 days in January when they were born six weeks early. Mrs Lupton said the family wanted to give something back to the ward for the care they received.
