Community engagement, standards captain added for Lexington police

The Dispatch
The Lexington Police Department is adding a new captain position focused on professional standards and community engagement. The position was approved by city manager Terra Greene and announced at Lexington s city council meeting Monday night.
Chief Robby Rummage said he learned from his five years of experience serving as deputy chief that it s hard to oversee the day-to-day operations of the department while also trying to enact change. That is why Rummage decided to add the new position  to have someone whose job is to create meaningful change both within the department and the community.
Rummage clarified he isn t adding the position because of any one event or any internal concerns.  ....
