BBC News Only Boys Aloud teach Welsh hymns online to Japanese children Close Only Boys Aloud were planning to tour Japan until Covid-19 struck and Wales went into lockdown. So instead the Welsh choir, which came third in Britain s Got Talent in 2012, began teaching Japanese school choirs in the cities of Kitakyushu, Kumamoto and Oita, via Zoom. The youngsters have been singing Welsh language hymns and songs of national pride. Only Boys Aloud musical director, Craig Yates, said: “It was hugely challenging. I mean, 6,000 miles apart to run a choir rehearsal is kind of crazy.” Published ....
Only Men Aloud will be performing at the spring concert hosted by Tenovus Cancer Care. The choir have been a staple in the music world for more than 20 years and have put together a special performance for the evening. There will also be solo performances from Craig Yates and Steffan Hughes – both members of the choir. They will be joined by Catrin Finch, the internationally renowned harpist, composer and Tenovus Cancer Care patron as well as Pontnewydd Male Voice Choir, Cor Heol y March, Andrew Bowsher and Tenovus Cancer Care’s virtual Sing with Us choir. Members of Only Men Aloud will be involved in the performance (2019 Picture: Chris Tinsley) A VIRTUAL St David s Day performance - including soloist Sir Bryn Terfel - will be aired today. The Aloud Charity - which aims to engage with youngsters through choral singing and build their confidence - have gathered their mass virtual choir, Everyone Aloud, for the St David s Day show. The charity asked members of the public to submit videos of themselves singing in order to join the virtual choir, and they received more than 100 videos from across the world, including America, Japan, Germany and Holland. Current and ex-members of Only Men Aloud, Only Boys Aloud and Only Kids Aloud joined in along with the public, and multiple members chose to submit as a family, with three generations submitting videos. ....
