It is estimated that around 2,500 people turned out on Saturday evening for the Annual KJAS and Jasper s Independence Day Celebration that was held at Sandy Creek Park. The festivities began at 5:00 with vendors selling food and other items followed by live music beginning at 6:00 provided by the group known as Still Cruising of Beaumont. Other events included water melon eating and hool-a-hoop contests and more In addition there was face painting, a water slide and fun for all ages and of course the firework show that took place at 9:30 pm. Fireworks for the event were once again provided by Craig George and his crew from Natchitoches and sound was provided by Showtech Productions of Dallas. ....
Press Release: Jasperâs Independence Day Celebration 2021â Jasperâs Independence Day Celebration will be held Saturday, July 3rd at Sandy Creek Park on Marvin Hancock Drive starting at 5:00 p.m. Lots of food and fun for the entire family. The band, âStill Cruisinâ from the Golden Triangle area will perform at 6:00 p.m. with blues, zydeco, country, and rock. The festival will provide free Balloon animals by Bodacious Balloon Art, face painting by Jean Humphrey and her art students at the East Texas Art League, a watermelon eating contest sponsored by Rene Kelly Ellis, Jasper County Treasurer and will provide trophies to the winners and the infamous KJAS Hula Hoop contest for age categories: 4-5, 6 -7, 8-9, 10-12, and a special contest for ages 13 and up with winners receiving 1st and 2nd place trophies and participation ribbons, a free obstacle course and water slide for the kids, so bring their bathing suits or clothes to get wet. The colonists had been expanding into Alaska for decades, first exploiting Aleut peoples as they chased access to sea otters and fur seals that would turn profits in the lucrative fur trade. The TV short is a standalone license special created by Mainframe Studios, but has no canon bearing on the PS5 game’s narrative. Bowhead whales are true northern creatures, swimming only in cold oceans off Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Svalbard and Russia. These bus-size whales have the largest mouths in the animal kingdom, can live for 200 years and can go without eating for more than a year due to their remarkable fat reserves. Bowheads are also a rare wildlife rebound story, with the population north and west of Alaska now numbering more than 16,000. That s up from the 1,000 or so animals Yankee whalers left behind in bloody waters at the turn of the last century. ....
