It is estimated that around 2,500 people turned out on Saturday evening for the Annual KJAS and Jasper's Independence Day Celebration that was held at Sandy Creek Park. The festivities began at 5:00 with vendors selling food and other items followed by live music beginning at 6:00 provided by the group known as Still Cruising of Beaumont. Other events included water melon eating and hool-a-hoop contests and more In addition there was face painting, a water slide and fun for all ages and of course the firework show that took place at 9:30 pm. Fireworks for the event were once again provided by Craig George and his crew from Natchitoches and sound was provided by Showtech Productions of Dallas.
