Wylie hit two home runs and drive in five as the North Fort Myers High School softball team hung on to defeat Charlotte 9-8 in the District 5A-8 championship game in Punta Gorda Friday for the Red Knights’ fifth consecutive district crown.
Actually, hung on for dear life would be more accurate, as the Tarpons came back from an 8-2 deficit by scoring four in the sixth and, after North got one back in the top of the seventh, scored two more and had the tying run on base before a pop up ended the game. ....

The North Fort Myers softball team has really been playing its best ball as the postseason comes next week. It had won nine straight going into its district game at Charlotte last Tuesday.
However, it was the Tarpons who took advantage of opportunities given to them by the Red Knights, and with great pitching and defense, Charlotte was able to end North’s winning streak with a 5-2 victory.
This will likely mean the road to the District 5A-8 championship will go through Charlotte, which has given North a challenge in recent years. ....

AtmosFEAR
Oaks Amusement Park reopened last weekend, and showed off its newest ride, AtmosFEAR.
The new AtmosFEAR is Oregon s most extreme attraction, vaulting riders to just shy of 100 feet at the full inversion swing, with extreme G-forces in play with every loop, said Emily MacKay, marketing and events director. It is unique in that it is two rides in one riders can opt for the traditional pendulum 180-degree ride, or for those looking to take the thrill to the next level, there is a 360-degree ride that takes the terror over the top.  ....

The dining room at Palomar

restaurants can now open for indoor dining at up to 50 percent of their original capacity, up from the 25 percent that was allowed under the previous tier starting February 12. But restaurant owners have had varying responses to the new allowances, with some opting to remain closed and others opting to reopen at half-capacity.
When
Portland Monthly
asked Gabriel Rucker, co-owner of Le Pigeon and Canard, if he planned to reopen for indoor dining at 25 percent capacity back in February, it didn’t take long for him to reach a conclusion: no. The restaurant had remained open for indoor dining during the summer and fall of 2020, but Rucker decided not to risk reopening a second time. ....
