Anambra Govt Recognizes Traditional Rulers of Ugbene,Orsumoghu and Ideani Communities Anambra Govt Recognizes Traditional Rulers of Ugbene,Orsumoghu and Ideani Communities Awka – Anambra State Government on Wednesday presented Certificates of Recognition to three new traditional rulers in the state. The certificate presentation was done by Governor of the State, Chief Willie Obiano, in the exercise of his constitutional mandate. Among the traditional rulers recognized and presented with certificates of recognition were the Traditional Ruler of Ideani in Idemili North LGA, Igwe Steven Onyekwelu Ezeji, the traditional ruler of Ugbene in Awka North, Igwe Samson Chimakwa, Awka North and their Orsumoghu in Ihiala LGA counterpart, Igwe Elochukwu Mbanefo. ....
Last week, the monarch of Igbariam community in Anambra North senatorial District bowed to death, eight days after his suspension by the Anambra State Government was lifted. David-Chyddy Eleke examines the incidents that preceded his demise On January 4th, the people of Igbariam community in Anambra East local government area of the state converged on the royal square of the monarch of the community, Igwe Kelly Nkeli Nzekwe for his traditional Ofala ceremony. It was a happy moment for the monarch and also for his subjects who converged to celebrate him. The moment was particularly unique for them because the monarch was just coming out of over three months suspension slammed on him by the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano. But unknown to them, that at a time when they thought the monarch has regained control of his throne, he would suddenly bow out. He died just three days after the Ofala festival. ....
Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has lifted the suspension of three traditional rulers in the state. The three traditional rulers were among the 12 suspended in September last year for allegedly traveling out of their domain to Abuja, without permission from the governor. The monarchs had joined billionaire oil mogul, Arthur Eze on a trip to Abuja to visit President Muhammadu Buhari. Obiano who was then at feud with Eze for accusing him of shortchanging monarchs in the state brought the hammer down on the monarchs for alleged insubordination to him by the monarchs. But in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Greg Obi, the governor lifted the one year suspension slammed on three of the traditional rulers involved. ....
