A Rochester man alleged to have been nearly twice over the legal limit for driving when he crashed into another vehicle, killing a 24-year-old woman in December 2020, made his first appearance in Olmsted County District Court on four felony charges.
Matthew Robert Shaver, 28, is charged with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide. He made his first court appearance Wednesday morning when Judge Lisa Hayne ordered him released on conditions including that he not use alcohol or mood altering substances and that he submit to random testing. Shaver s next court appearance is scheduled for July 29. ....

The deadly drunk-driving crash happened Dec. 19, 2020 near the intersection of 18th Avenue Northwest and Crimson Ridge Drive around 9 p.m. A criminal complaint accuses Matthew R. Shaver, of Rochester, of speeding southbound on 18th Ave. NW in a Jeep Wrangler at 107 mph just two seconds before he rear-ended a Toyota Corolla. ....
